ABOUT US
Cindy Laliwala
(Local Studio owner, graphic designer and artist with a BFA from Parson’s School of Design, NYC)
I came to the US from Seoul, Korea, when I was 2 years old, and grew up in Bayside, New York. My love for art began at a very early age, and I pursued it by attending Parson’s School of Design in NYC. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in communication design. I’ve had several of my interpretive pieces go on exhibit in Japan from Parson’s.
I’ve worked at the Art Directors Club as gallery help, Oxford University Press designing children’s books, then moved onto designing maps with a creative twist and then onto package design for Bristol Myers Squibb and Unliver. I currently live In Pennington with my husband and 3 children. After having kids my life took a little twist and I have changed and refocused my life. My children became my main focus and the loves of my life!
In 2010 I started the after-school Art Enrichment program at Stony Brook Elementary. It was a huge success! I wanted to be able to expose children of all ages to art and be able to bring out their personal best. Everyone needs to think outside the box. Art is very personal and not always understood. Most people are apprehensive about creating art because of their own preconceived notion about what art is — but I look at art as a means of expressing yourself and letting loose. Everyone is a different type of artist and should be appreciated and celebrated for what they are good at!
